Set three years after the events of the last film, the residents of Arendelle have adapted well to their new queen, and she in turn has adapted to allowing family and friends to become close to her again. She soon starts hearing eerie noises in the distant forests; to which we the audience are given an obvious expositional backstory telling us about the people who reside there. When Arendelle suddenly comes under threat, Elsa, Anna (who is now in an almost engaged relationship with Kristoff), and a slowly maturing Olaf set off to find the source of the noise, and save their home.
Well-made sequel, that starts of clunky and with a somewhat forced backstory, with some stunning visuals and beautiful songs, with the always brilliant Menzel. Not quite as catchy, or awe inspiring as the first, and many of the new characters that are introduced are underused and somewhat forgotten by the time you finish.
A strong *** ½
